Batch INARA (ND Batch 2025)

Image
Poem for the ND Senior Students (Batch 2025) Though time was short and moments few, I’m grateful still I met all of you. Late I came, yet in your light, I saw your passion, bold and bright. Now as you stand near journey’s end, With dreams to chase and lives to mend, I pray the lessons that you bear Be seeds of love and thoughtful care. Our field is needed every day, In homes, in schools, hospital, in every way So share your knowledge, give your best, Be God’s own hands, be richly blessed. I’m proud already, can’t wait to see The heights you’ll reach, who you will be. May your hearts stay kind, your purpose true And may the world see Jesus in you.

Lessons Beyond the Classroom

Image
Welcome to Lessons Beyond the Classroom! Teaching isn’t just about lectures, lesson plans, or grading papers, it’s a journey of constant growth, discovery, and learning. Every day, as a teacher and department chair in Nutrition and Dietetics, I find myself immersed in experiences that go far beyond the syllabus. From conversations with students to unexpected challenges and heartwarming moments, each day brings new lessons, not just for my students, but for me as well. This blog is my spac e to reflect on those lessons. It’s where I’ll share the ups and downs of teaching, the joys and struggles of guiding young minds, and the insights I’ve gained from leading a department. It’s about the small, powerful moments that remind me why I chose this profession and how it continues to shape me as a person. Whether you’re an educator, a student, or someone simply curious about the world of teaching, I hope my reflections inspire, inform, or resonate with you in some way. Here, we’ll expl...

From Fear to Fun: My Solo Adventure in Cebu

Image
I just want to start by saying it was supposed to be a trip with my co-workers, but because of Typhoon Gaemi, they were not able to make it to the airport, so I was the only one who went to Cebu. I am used to traveling alone, but this was my first time having a solo trip like this, including all the activities I did. I would love to do it again or have this kind of solo trip. It was super duper fun. Thanks to my aunt (TrekEarth Travel and Tours) for arranging everything for me (us, supposedly). It made my travel easier and less hassle. Of course, thank God, because everything was smooth;  He provided everything I needed to get to the airport. And  He protected and guided me throughout the travel. I truly felt His presence. Lastly, to all the guides I met, they were all kind and helpful. Day 1: Moalboal Adventures The first day of the tour started early at 4 AM when we headed to Moalboal for snorkeling with sea turtles and sardines. It took us about two hours to reach the place...

One Day Mission Trip and Six Days of ‘Gala’ in the Philippines

Image
June 2, in the super early morning, my friend Beth and I traveled to the Philippines with the purpose of joining a medical mission and, of course, traveling around my country. It has always been my dream to do something special on my birthday (June 12). Though the medical mission was on June 3, I still grabbed the chance to serve some people in my birth month. I also contributed to feeding the children there and supported a Vacation Bible School (VBS) in another community. It felt so right to be a blessing to others. Everything I have right now is from God, something I should not keep but share because these are not mine but His. When Jose messaged me, I immediately said yes without hesitation and thought of donating for the children.   After the medical mission in the afternoon, we went to a river near where we stayed. It was a beautiful place to relax and bond with friends, a perfect way to end the day. The next day, early morning again, we traveled to Tarlac with plans to hike M...

EMELY

Image
Dear Emely, I hate goodbyes and I'm not good at them either, but here's a poem for you: Emely, with your spirit strong and sweet, A journey lies ahead, new challenges to meet. I pray for your path, safe and sound, For health and joy to always be around. Grateful for the laughter, adventures shared, Memories made, for none have compared. In friendship's bond, we've been truly blessed, In my heart, these moments are forever pressed. May your days be filled with success and smiles, As you traverse life's endless miles. And though we part, for a time or two, I hold the hope of seeing you anew. In God's hands, I trust your care, Until we meet again, somewhere out there. Journey Through Japan: Memories, Friendship, and Blessings (A poem for a friend)

Image
Journey Through Japan: Memories, Friendship, and Blessings In Japan's amazing land, we had quite a blast, From Tokyo's bright lights to Kyoto's rich past. Nara's deer were friendly, in Hakone we soared high, With Mount Fuji's grandeur painting the sky. In Tokyo, we marveled at a tower so tall, Osaka's castle stood strong, like a sturdy wall. Kyoto's temples, castles, and shrines so neat, Every place we explored made our journey complete. Our day in Hakone, oh what a thrill, Mount Fuji's view gave us quite the chill. Throughout our adventure, just you, me, and Neko, Making memories together, come rain or echo. And on that special night in Kyoto town, With Luup's ride, we truly got around. From Kyoto station to our hotel's glowing light, Biking and scooting, it felt just right. As we head home to Taiwan, responsibilities anew, May happiness find you in all that you do. Dear Neko, our travel buddy, through thick and thin, Thanks for being with us,...

Discovering Japan: A Journey of History, Friendship, and Gratitude

Discovering Japan: A Journey of History, Friendship, and Gratitude By Ruchel Gagarin Oasan  ( 歐善璐 ) Embracing the Beauty of Japan and Beyond After a whirlwind six-day adventure across Japan, I find myself overflowing with emotions and thoughts. While my wallet may be a bit lighter, my heart is undoubtedly fuller. Japan, a country rich in history and culture, unfolded before me in a spectacular way. I've always been somewhat indifferent to history, but this trip changed that. Exploring four vibrant cities, including my now favorite, Kyoto, I found myself awestruck by the wealth of historical sites. Museums, palaces, shrines, and castles whispered tales of a past that, despite its complexities and shadows – notably Japan's role in World War II – left me with a deep appreciation for the nation's journey. The Joy of Shared Experiences This journey wouldn't have been the same without my travel companion, Beth. Initially, I harbored fears that our partnership might not gel pe...
